In Spring ~ Emily Dickinson
In Spring ~ Emily Dickinson
“A light exists in Spring…” — poem by Emily Dickinson
In Spring is a beautiful, intriguing, elegant piece written in 1865 by the American poet Emily Dickinson. This tiny fine letterpress edition is the next booklet in a series celebrating Dickinson’s evocations of the seasons (the first was Into the Beautiful, on autumn). The poem is accompanied by two nature illustrations — young tulip poplar leaves were collected from the tree outside the print shop door, pressed and dried, and then hand-printed in pale greens. All in a miniature book, 2.5” x 3.5”.
Handset in Bembo text types (cast by the Bixler Letterfoundry) and Civilité titling (ATF).
Letterpress printed in two colors on the 1909 Golding Pearl foot-treadled press.
Interior papers are Rives soft-white, with endpapers of Unryu mulberry, and jacket of St Armand handmade pale green.
Illustrations hand-printed directly from dried tulip poplar leaves.
Hand-sewn with Irish linen thread.
Size: 2.5” tall x 3.5” wide
Limited edition of 65 numbered copies.
